Clintonville, OH

When Franklin County and Clinton Township was created in the 1800's, a US Post Office Postmaster opened a post office in the center of Clinton Township, near the corner of Oakland Park Avenue and the former Sandusky Turnpike, a plank covered toll road that today is known as High Street.  The post office was called "Clintonville".

The City of Columbus in 1974 created the "Clintonville Area Commission", designating its governance area (south: the Glen Echo Ravine, west: the Olentangy River, north: the City's border with the unincorporated Sharon Township and the City of Worthington, east: the Big Four Railroad).   Although not a city, the boundaries of Clintonville are not well defined and are open to various interpretations of the local residents. Today, Clintonville is a vibrant community with about 28,000 residents and about 80 sub-divisions.
