Hilliard, OH
Hilliard is
Franklin County and 10 miles northwest of downtown Columbus.
Hilliard is bordered by Big Darby Creek on the west and the
Scioto River on the east with easy access to the freeway
systems. John Reed Hilliard purchased 10 acres of
farmland from Hoseach High and Abraham Wendell in 1852.
Originally called Hillaird's Station, the town grew around the
railroad route of the Piqua and Indiana Railroad station which
bisected the former Hilliard farmland. In 1854, a post
office was established in Hilliard's Station and the word
station dropped from it's name. The village of Hilliard
became incorporated on July 13, 1869.
