Muirfield Village, OHJack Nicklaus began to purchase land north of Dublin in 1967 with the dream of opening a golf course. The golf course was not completed until October 1973 and the course became know as Muirfield Village. In May of 1976, the first PGA tour event was held and the course became known as the Memorial Tournament honoring a different golfer every year.
